Birmingham Airport Parking

Most of the parking facilities at Birmingham Airport are within walking distance of the terminal building, which may be considered as quite unusual for an airport of this size, however, it does make parking at the airport very convenient. There are a number of different areas from which to choose, depending on for how long you need to leave your vehicle at the airport. There are areas suitable for simply dropping passengers off, areas from where you can wait for arriving passengers, short or medium-term parking areas, valet parking services and parking areas with rates which are more ideal for longer-term parking periods. Parking is also available for disabled drivers, and drivers which are part of the Blue Badge Scheme in the United Kingdom.

At Birmingham Airport, motorists are not permitted to drop off passengers and their luggage outside the terminal entrance. This is mainly for security purposes. An area just adjacent to the terminal is available at a charge of one Pound per 15 minutes of parking, and is known as the Drop and Go area. Up to half an hour of parking in this area will be £2.00 and every fifteen minutes thereafter is £5.00. This parking area can become expensive for longer periods of parking, as it is only intended to be used for a quick drop and go service. Motorists who will need to wait for an arriving flight can use the short or medium stay car parks.

Short/Medium Stay Car Parking

This area of parking is very near the arrivals area of the terminal. There are three areas offering short to medium parking, and they are all multi-storey car parks. They are only a two minute walk from the terminal building, therefore very conveniently located. They are also popular areas for parking when waiting for a flight of arriving passengers. The short/medium parking areas of 1, CCTV covers all 2 and 3, and security personnel regularly patrol the area. They are also Park Mark accredited.

Parking tariffs for this area are approximately £3.50 for up to an hour, £7.00 for up to two hours, £10.50 for up to three hours, £14.00 for up to four hours and £17.50 for up to five hours of parking. After five hours, and not longer than 24 hours, will be charged at £20.00. Thereafter, there is a daily rate of £20.00.

Long Stay Car Parking

There are two long stay parking areas at Birmingham Airport, which offer more affordable rates for passengers who will be away for a few days, or even weeks. They are a little further from the terminal building, but still within a reasonable walking distance. However, a shuttle bus is also available for transport to the terminal. Long stay car parks are open areas, with CCTV and regular security patrols. They are referred to as Long Stay 1 and Long Stay 2, and both have approximately the same parking rates, although, Long Stay Car Park 1 offers free parking for the first 15 minutes.

From fifteen minutes to one hour of parking will be charged at £7.50, and up to 24 hours will cost £12.50. Each day thereafter will cost £8.50.

Valet Parking Services

Valet parking is most ideal for passengers who do not have much time to spare at the airport, or for families who may find it difficult to get to the terminal with their children and luggage in tow. Valet parking is a service that can be enjoyed by all passengers, and not just business individuals. Passengers who simply prefer not to have to worry about parking are more than welcome as well. The NCP official welcome point for valet parking customers is in the drop and go car park. Your vehicle will then be parked in a secure and undercover area on your behalf until you return.

Disabled parking facilities

There are dedicated parking spaces in the drop and go area for passengers with severe mobility problems, and who hold a Blue Badge issued by the local authorities. The drop and go area is very nearby the terminal, and Blue Badge holders may park here for an hour for free. Thereafter, the usual rates will apply. There are also other dedicated areas available in the multi-storey and long stay car parks. Car parking for disabled passengers is charged at normal rates. Special assistance can be requested by using one of the call points from the parking areas. The OCS – Ltd is a company contracted by the airport to provide assistance to persons with reduced mobility. Help points are available in the short and medium stay car parks 1 and 2, and in the long stay car parks 1 and 2. They are also located in the drop and go car park.

Passengers should ensure that they have sufficient time to reach the airport, find suitable parking and effectively check-in and pass the security controls. For most flights, passengers should arrive at least 90 minutes before their departure. Motorists find the parking facilities at the airport to be secured and more than adequate for their needs.
